Many times in our lives we are confronted with a challenge and we're put into the position of being bold or cowering away defeated.
Changing operating systems isn't really one of those times. Oh, sure, many of you think it is. Many say - but it takes courage to switch away from something that you have become familiar and comfortable with... Meh. Not really. In life we must always accept changes or we become yesterday's news. Has-beens, relics, designated to the "useless" pile.
Changing operating systems is bigger and better than spring cleaning, too. Take, for example, switching from Windows to Linux. Many people are still under the impression that Linux is a hard thing, or for geeks. Lol, it's for people that want to use their computer, that's all. It's whatever you want it to be, or it's as the developers present it to you. A sleek, reliable, secure operating system that's not scary at all, not daunting, not even a candidate for "retraining", either. Career changes require retraining, Linux from Windows merely requires wanting to do it.
Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 - Lenny, came out the other day. What an amazing thing it really is. Not just a capable operating system, but a platform on which you can create about anything you want. You can't buy that kind of wicked, and you don't have to. It's free.
Courage is a doer's thing. Change is a daily occurance that more of us should embrace for our own personal evolution. Deciding to run Debian on your computer at home is just another fine choice you have made in this life.
