Ok, guilty, after having a less than easy time setting up my wireless card (which I was sure was Linux compatible for the past year), I forgot all that tinkering can leave things less than perfect.
But, in my defense, I did try it again after a fresh start to my day today, and after getting the Firefox deb file, no more issues. I can now see and hear the news! My life is complete as I know it!
Seriously, this was a good reminder to us all, after doing lots of "tinkering" in system settings and such, to take a second before you continue down a path, and do a restart to reset any issues you might have piling up.
For now, it's back to the news.
