I wrote an entry of an issue that upset me a few weeks back.  The CD installer of Debian reset my partition and I lost the entire second drive (no big issue, as far as data goes). (UPDATE - THIS IS INCORRECT.  Although the partition is flagged as being reset, the installer did nothing but note it was there.  Been through it several times, now.)  Ubuntu and Debian installers both show a rewrite of the other hard drive, but they don't redo the pratition or anything, so those drives are unaffected.  What I initially liked about Debian was in the manual mode, you could get it to report and only affect one drive. )

Maybe someone reads it, or more likely, many of thousands have questioned it elsewhere, but the newest Jaunty (yeah, it's Ubuntu) Live CD and the alternate installer both left my second drive alone, THANK YOU, developers!

Based on recent history, this was a very good thing.

I still can't get a desktop PC to load a hardware RAID, but  that's coming.  I can see it, I just can't boot it.  Sooner or later....

Till next time
