OK, so this week, I'm on vacation, and I forget my card reader for the laptop.  I have a Canon Digital Rebel.  Old but a really great camera.

So I plug in the USB transfer cord, which I never use, and get nothing but error messages.  

 The fix suprised me, 

On the camera, tap the menu button,

scroll 4 tabs right to tools, 

Down 3 to the communications setting

 Change to PTP, and you can hook back tot he PC and it works just like you thought.  Super pictures from a night tour in NYC!
