So my buddy and I talk at the coffee pot the other day, seems the wifey got a virus or spyware something, quarantined it, and the DVD player has been OOS ever since.
I already gave him a Linux Live CD so he could rescue a cookbook and all the data from his old desktop, so he knew I knew something. I agreed to come fix his "lost" DVD, and figured it would be good faith fixing a Windows user again.
It was the standard, remove the device from device manager, let Windows auto find it, and it was working again. Still, this task had frustrated him for days. So I couldn't resist, how's the project about saving files off the old desktop. Well, the PC is running great, 2 weeks now, no issues, waiting for the wifey to go ahead and salvage what she wants.
Linux - it just works. No headaches.
