Thinking about writing a piece on Open Source Agriculture. So if you trip over something that might, with enough squinting, be forced into this article please send me a link or twenty. Lots of Open Source going on now, those damn Arduino http://www.arduino.cc/ are being used everywhere, by amateurs even. OS machines that are used to make machines, that's a bit clever, eh? http://opensourcemachine.org/ And these Maker Sheds. This is so cool, hang out, do neat things, friends, no hangover in the morning? http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/List_of_Hacker_Spaces There is one right down the street from you. Maybe a dad and kids affair? Or a Mom and kids thing if dad is a klutz? FOSS is so 1992, now it's on to just OS, OS everything, everywhere. What would you like to OS in your life?

LibreOffice 3.3.whatever. Installed, it works. It works fast. Touchpad, Fn+F6 Touchpad gone. Cursor is rock steady, improves my typing a lot. My wireless rodent is getting a lot of use, not always as convenient as the touchpad but at least I only have to type the stuff one time instead of 3 or 4. This is a Lenovo G460. Somewhere on this site are pictures, my bread pic is there and y'all can look at it. img_0771.jpg Hey, just click on the image button when you are typing your blog..... Maybe a tutorial on this? Heading out for an eye exam, I know this is not twitter country but I add this info because it might solve some of my Linux problems? Yeah, probably not. Peace, Bob

Another big THANK YOU goes out to machiner. He just spent a bunch of time on the phone with me because I could not get a new kernel to install. So we did get the job done, the updated kernel does just what it was supposed to do (Lenovo G460 had sound from PC speakers and headphone jack full time. If you are a Linux fan stay away from the Lenovo G series.) If any of y'all know how to diddle with the config file for the touch pad I have some problem there (not a Linux problem, them winders users have the same lack of joy). LMDE is working fine, still need to update to Libre Office but I do so little word processing it almost seems to not be worth the effort. Is there any way to post a picture from my computer to DebTuts? I wanted to show a loaf of bread that would go very well with that quiche that was featured here. I really don't want to have to put my pix up on the web. Y'all be like a fried egg and keep your sunny side up!

Mint Debian, just a little hand-holding for us non geeks. The uni here in town, ENMU, auctions off outdated computers once or twice a year. They have to install Linux cause there is a licensed version of ms on these boxes. The dude that has to do this was lost with Linux, and he soon found out that people wanted those machines to play music and DVD's. The Colonel set him up with SuperOS, Ubuntu with all the codecs. That works, sometimes. There are people that have a bit of trouble with Linux, who knew? So I printed up a bunch of business cards, Free Software Free Help with my contact info and he gave one to each buyer. The first call from the most recent sale was a young lady who broke her install when she tried to "install the internet". Thank God it wasn't anything serious, eh? More later.
